Your partner in efforts to assure that HIV prevention, care, and services are available for every Maine resident.

Who We Are
MCAP is a group of people who are dedicated to ending AIDS in Maine. We are united in our belief that every Maine resident deserves: 1. To benefit from effective HIV prevention education; 2. To have access to appropriate health care services; and 3. To receive social services which are both professional and comprehensive. We believe that prevention, care, and services must be accessible regardless of where the person lives; that the assortment of services must be consistent from one county to another; and that high quality care is necessary in all geographic regions.

What We Do
MCAP raises money here in Maine for local programs and services. The money we raise is matched by donors to the National AIDS Fund, such as the Elton John AIDS Foundation. The Maine funds and the matching funds (more than $1 million since 1994) are then distributed to local organizations that provide education, prevention, services, or care to people living with, at risk for, or otherwise affected by AIDS in Maine.

How We Do It
MCAP uses many strategies to increase resources for addressing HIV in Maine: 1. Funding: We solicit money from individuals, organizations, corporations, foundations, and other groups. 2. Convening: MCAP brings people and organizations together. Sometimes the purpose is to resolve differences, other times the goal is to develop a consensus plan on how to proceed or to foster creative responses to emerging challenges. 3. Grant Making: We give money to local agencies and programs that provide HIV prevention, education, care, and services.
